Privacy Policy

At Prominence Africa, accessible from prominenceafrica.com, one of our main priorities is the privacy of our visitors. This Privacy Policy document contains the types of information that is collected and recorded by Prominence Africa and how we use it.

This Privacy Policy applies only to our online activities and is valid for visitors to our website with regards to the information that they share and/or that we collect on Prominence Africa. This policy is not applicable to any information collected offline or via channels other than this website.

Consent

By using our website, you hereby consent to our Privacy Policy and agree to its terms.

Information We Collect

The personal information that you are asked to provide, and the reasons why you are asked to provide it, will be made clear to you at the point we ask you to provide your personal information.

If you contact us directly, we may receive additional information about you such as your name, email address, phone number, the contents of the message and/or attachments you may send us, and any other information you may choose to provide.

When you register for an account, we may ask for your contact information, including items such as name, company name, address, email address, and telephone number.

Membership and Platform Information

When you hold a membership, we also collect and process information generated through your use of the platform. This includes your programme progress and completion records, certificates issued to you, content you post in the community, your attendance at live events, and your membership tier and history.

Where you are a Founding Member, we collect the postal address you provide so that we can send your welcome package. Delivery addresses are shared with our fulfilment and shipping partners solely for that purpose, and are retained only for as long as needed to complete delivery and meet our record-keeping obligations.

Billing Information

If you purchase any of our products or use any of our services, you will need to provide your billing information alongside your contact, personal and order information. Billing information includes your card details (whether debit or credit card), billing address, activation codes and other billing information that may be distinct to your own country. Billing information is processed by your bank and our payment processors, and full card details are not stored by us.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect in various ways, including to:

  • provide, operate, and maintain our website;
  • improve, personalise, and expand our website;
  • understand and analyse how you use our website;
  • develop new products, services, features, and functionality;
  • communicate with you, either directly or through one of our partners, including for customer service, to provide you with updates and other information relating to the website, and for marketing and promotional purposes;
  • send you emails;
  • deliver membership benefits, including tracking programme progress, issuing certificates, and fulfilling physical packages;
  • find and prevent fraud.

Sharing Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us operate the platform, including our hosting provider, payment processors, email service provider, and fulfilment and shipping partners. These providers may process your information outside Nigeria, and are permitted to use it only for the purposes we specify.

Retaining Your Information

We keep your personal information for as long as your account remains active. If you close your account, we retain limited records where necessary for legal, accounting or fraud-prevention purposes. Content you have posted in the community may remain visible after your account closes, unless you ask us to remove it.

Your Rights

You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, request its deletion, or object to our use of it for marketing. To make a request, contact us at info@prominenceafrica.com. We will respond within thirty (30) days.

Log Files

Prominence Africa follows a standard procedure of using log files. These files log visitors when they visit websites. All hosting companies do this as part of hosting services’ analytics. The information collected by log files includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, Internet Service Provider (ISP), date and time stamp, referring/exit pages, and possibly the number of clicks. These are not linked to any information that is personally identifiable. The purpose of the information is for analysing trends, administering the site, tracking users’ movement on the website, and gathering demographic information.

Cookies and Web Beacons

Like any other website, Prominence Africa uses cookies. These cookies are used to store information including visitors’ preferences, and the pages on the website that the visitor accessed or visited. The information is used to optimise the user’s experience by customising our web page content based on visitors’ browser type and/or other information.

We also use cookies and similar technologies, including tracking pixels provided by advertising and analytics platforms such as Meta, Google and LinkedIn, to measure the effectiveness of our marketing campaigns and to show our advertisements to you on social media and other websites you visit. These technologies may collect your IP address, browser information and details of your activity on our website, and share that information with the platform concerned.

You can choose to disable cookies through your individual browser options. To find more detailed information about cookie management with specific web browsers, please refer to the browsers’ respective websites. You can also opt out of personalised advertising through the settings offered by the platforms themselves.

Third-Party Privacy Policies

Prominence Africa’s Privacy Policy does not apply to other websites or to the advertising and social media platforms we use. We advise you to consult the respective Privacy Policies of those platforms for more detailed information, including their practices and instructions on how to opt out of certain options.

Marketing Communications

We send marketing emails and The Prominence Letter to members. These include updates about the platform, new programmes, live events and offers.

You may opt out at any time by clicking “unsubscribe” at the foot of any email you receive from us. Opting out of marketing emails does not stop essential service messages such as payment receipts, renewal notices, or notifications about your membership.

We also run advertising campaigns on social media platforms. We may share a hashed version of your email address with those platforms so that we can show relevant advertisements to you, or exclude you from campaigns intended for non-members, and to build audiences of people with similar interests. You can control how these platforms use your information through your account settings on each platform.

Disclosures to Public Authorities

In certain situations, we may be required to disclose personal data in response to lawful requests by public authorities, including to meet national security or law enforcement requirements. We may also disclose personal information to other third parties when compelled to do so by government authorities or required by law or regulation including, but not limited to, in response to court orders and subpoenas.

Age Restriction

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account or hold a membership.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a person under 16 has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately and we will take reasonable steps to remove that information from our records. We encourage parents and guardians to observe, participate in, and monitor and guide their children’s online activity.

By accessing the Website and/or using our services after we make any such changes to this Privacy Policy, you are deemed to have accepted such changes. Please be aware that, to the extent permitted by applicable law, our use of your information is governed by the Privacy Policy in effect at the time we collect the information.
