Most thinking is comparison. You look at what already exists and tweak it. First-principles reasoning is the opposite. You strip a problem down to what you actually know is true, then build back up from there. This program teaches you the discipline of starting from zero. You will learn to question assumptions that feel like facts, decompose problems into their underlying parts, and build solutions that are not borrowed from elsewhere. This is the thinking method behind original work, original businesses, and original lives.
What you will be able to do
- 01Notice when you are copying what exists instead of thinking from scratch.
- 02Separate what is actually true from assumptions that only feel like facts.
- 03Break a hard problem into its basic parts before you try to solve it.
- 04Apply first principles to your business, your career, your money and your relationships.
- 05Use the five whys properly and know when first principles is the wrong tool.
- 06Keep a reasoning journal that makes original thinking a daily habit.
